Welcome! First Reconciliation Confirmation in restored order First Eucharist
Why we believe that what we do now to prepare young children is not working

the same beautiful books, the same basic approach, asking parents to do a little and moving First Reconciliation and they do go to Confession. (Their parents usually do NOT celebrate this sacrament, however.) The outcome is that most of these kids make their first and last Confession on the same day! They rarely if ever return to the Sacrament. You simply cannot call that a successful program. The same is often true for Eucharist. After second grade many times, the parents disappear from parish life completely -- and the children often do, too. Confirmation, as we all well know, fares no better. It is often more "graduation" than "initiation." With Growing Up Catholic, we web the preparation and formation into household and family life. This is the only chance we have to form them for a lifetime of faith. The parents who have experienced Growing Up Catholic tell us they love it! They get it! Their children learn mainly from them, with reinforcement and support from the parish catechist. By coaching parents to form their own kids, you move from generation to generation with faith. We are really teaching them "parenting skills for Catholics." Beautiful books don't make a program successful. What makes it successful is coaching parents.
